Children’s Residential Support Worker
Pay: From £13 per hour
We are looking for passionate and dedicated Children’s Care Practitioner to join our team at a 3-bed children’s residential home in Sedgley, conveniently located with good public transport links from Wolverhampton.
This rewarding role offers a competitive hourly rate starting from £13 per hour (dependent on competency and experience), plus sleep-in payments of £62.55 per shift (minimum one per week) and regular overtime opportunities, allowing you to further increase your earnings.
About the Role
As a Children’s Care Practitioner, you will provide care and support for children and young people up to the age of 18 who have learning disabilities, Autism, ADHD and associated behavioural challenges. Some children may also have sensory impairments or minor physical disabilities.
Many of the young people we support may have experienced trauma or neglect prior to entering care, so the role requires patience, compassion, resilience, and a genuine commitment to making a positive difference in their lives.
You will help create a safe, supportive and nurturing environment, enabling young people to develop independence, confidence and life skills.

Working Hours
This role involves a varied shift pattern, including:
- Early shifts
- Late shifts
- Long day shifts
- Sleep-in shifts (minimum one per week)
- Alternate weekends
Rotas operate across the full week, Monday to Sunday.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care and emotional support to children and young people
- Promote positive behaviour and support individual care plans
- Assist young people with daily routines, education, appointments and community activities
- Maintain accurate records and reports in line with care standards
- Work collaboratively as part of a supportive team
- Help create a safe, stable and nurturing home environment
What We’re Looking For
Successful candidates will ideally have:
- Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Residential Childcare, or
- Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (Social Care Pathway)
Candidates without these qualifications will be supported to complete them after passing probation.
Experience working with children and young people with any of the following is desirable:
- Learning disabilities
- Autism
- ADHD
- Sensory impairments
- Physical disabilities
- Behavioural or complex care needs
A driving licence is preferred but not essential, as the role may involve transporting young people to school, appointments, and community activities.
Skills and Personal Qualities

Experience (Preferred)
- Residential childcare: 1 year
- Support work: 1 year
- SEN support: 1 year
- Learning disabilities support: 1 year
Additional Requirements

- Level 3 or Level 4 in Children’s Residential Care or equivalent (preferred)
